This new standard recognises those risks and calls for employers to consult their entire workforce about PPE needs.
The Reality On-Site
The lack of inclusive PPE is not just theoretical. In real-world construction environments, women and minority workers often have to compromise on comfort and safety:
- Rolling up oversized trousers
- Gloves slipping off due to large sizing>
- Wearing multiple socks to fit into oversized boots
- Poor helmet fit
- Difficulty finding modest or culturally appropriate gear
